“Draft night vibes”

This piece began on a warm summer afternoon at Porta Rosa, painted live during Spurs Jesus’ 2025 NBA Draft Pick Party, an event charged with hometown pride, anticipation, and the shared belief that San Antonio was entering a new era.

The portrait plays with scale and energy, merging Soup’s expressive, black and white spray paint skills with Wemby’s aggressive facial expression and commanding presence as he grips a basketball. The background features Soup’s signature stencil work of Wemby’s name rendered in multiple fonts, layered and dynamic, with ghosted “Spurs” stencils weaving through the composition. These layered elements create depth and texture, echoing the pulse of the live event and the city’s anticipation.

After the event, the painting found its permanent home with SA Flavor, who acquired the piece for their collection. Now displayed among their tributes to the city’s culture, food, and icons, the Wemby canvas lives on as both a time capsule of that night and a symbol of San Antonio’s collective excitement for its future.
