Luminaria: Saturday Night Alright for Lighting

A couple has wedding photos taken in front of the mural created by Nik Soupe, Shek Vega, and Cris Montoya during the 2014 Luminaria. Photo by Scott Ball.

Since this was my second consecutive day at Luminaria, I decided to spend more time focusing on the multiple musical performances which seemed to be tucked away in every nook and cranny. There was no shortage of genres – everything from folk, to Tex-Mex country, to ’90s style rock and Tejano were all represented. It also seemed as though the Rolling Thunder Pinball secret’s out: The lines of people are the proof. It feels like Luminaria has diversified itself from an adult art party to a family-friendly gathering, but with the same artistic roots it has had in the past. My recommendation is to replace a couple food trucks allowing more artists to contribute work on a smaller scale.  See you next year, Luminaria. It’s been enlightening.
